How I started my Professional Eatin’ Career (Continued)
I arrived at Righteous Pig BBQ in Belleville Illinois were I was to eat a 4LB Cuban sandwich, a pint of baked beans and a pint of potato salad. I was so tense and adrenaline was pumpin’ I could not tell you what was goin’ on around me that day but that I was starin’ at a large amount of food in front of me and we had 45 minutes to eat it.
I do remember there were about 10 contestants ready to beat me because they were all the fastest in their minds. I began to eat and all I could remember is I was done with the sandwich and I heard someone yell “He is drinkin’ the beans!!”. I had grabbed the pint container and just started to chug them. I was no professional at this point because this was my very first contest/challenge, I just have a thang for efficiency and productivity from bein’ on a construction site.
I finished in a lil over 7 minutes then I had gotten up to walk off my adrenaline. I was walkin’ around pickin’ my teeth with a straw for 5 or so minutes while the rest kept eatin’ to see who would get 2nd and 3rd. I thought to myself “what is wrong with them, they can’t finish this?” It was not but 2 or 3 seconds later I thought to myself again “Maybe somethin’ is wrong with me.”
Well 45 minutes went by and nobody finished but me. I then signed up for a chicken wing contest someone told me about at that event afterwards down the street a week later at 618 Big Daddy’s and beat a professional eater. I went home and googled [The top 5 food challenges in St Louis] Like on Man Vs Food but I just wanted to finish 5 for my bucket list. To this day i have over 320 wins as of 09-18-2020.
I have to tell you that I went back the next year for that Righteous Pig BBQ Cuban sandwich contest and nobody showed up but me. I finished in 2 minutes less of a time than the followin’ year and I ate a crispy delicious bbq pig snoot right after the challenge. (If you do not know what a bbq pig snoot is you are not from the St. Louis area. We also have a Gooey Butter Cake that most are not aware of either. I highly recommend you try them if in town). I have to note that Righteous Pig BBQ is no longer in business (and no it isn’t because I ate them out of business lol)
I actually turned professional because I was getttin’ kicked out of events because I ate too fast so why not be one if they was goin’ to accuse me of it?
How I acquired the Da Garbage Disposal Name
I had someone tell me that I was The Da Garbage Disposal and never thought about usin’ that name but when they brought it to my attention that that would be a gr8 name I had put up a poll what name I should go by. I wanted to use the name The Fridge Raider (like Fridgerator) with a foodnado, which is a tornado of food like on my logo now, comin’ out the side. My Brother wanted me to use “Clark the Shark” but that sounded to me like a Mafia Bookee or somethin’. Overwhelmingly The Garbage Disposal took the most votes. I was goin’ to use that name but someone I researched went by that name in NY but wasn’t a professional and I still didn’t want anyone to come back and say that they have some sort of rights on the name so I just changed the “The” to a “Da”.
What I Stand For in my Merch
I am a hard workin’ guy that likes quality. I like what I buy not to be expensive and not to leave me broke, I feel others should have what I believe in. I spend the little extra to get you quality without chargin’ you the extra cost I incur. Yes I could make an extra $1-$2 per sale but I would rather sleep better at night knowin’ that I treated you as I would want to be treated. I put my pants on just like anyone else, I am not above my own beliefs.
I thank you for your support in comin’ to my Storefront where you are always welcome to fill out the comment/inquiries form to let me know what your thoughts and feedback are as well as any questions you may have.
Have a gr8 day unless you made other plans!!!
